8-Day Mountain Bike Tour in the most beautiful desert of Israel.

Accommodation Included in Khans Along the Trail, luggage and all other logistics is taken cared of - Ride, Eat, Sleep and Enjoy - we will do the rest!

 

8 riding days a long the newly formed southern part of the Israeli National Bike Trail. Off road, desert single trail riding. 8 days and 7 nights.

DAY 1 :

Starting point in Sde Boker (get there by yourself or contact us to arrange transportation)

From here we will be riding along the Israel National bike trail

Riding from Sde Boker to Mizpe Ramon via Nahal Zin and The old Nabatian city of Avdat.

DAY 2 :

Mizpe Ramon to Machtesh Ramon (Ramon Crater) - one of the most beautiful and unique landscapes in Israel. This day's trail, about 40 km long, passes along the edge of the makhtesh and along a section of the ancient Nabatean trade route, known as the 'Spice Route', that was recognized in 2005 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

DAY 3:

From Makhtesh Ramon to Zofar 

This day's ride follows the path of the nomadic merchants who led camel caravans laden with incense and spices thousands of years ago.

Another short section of the long 'Spices route',

Riding along Wadi ardon with its colorful sands and then Nekharot wadi with its relatively tall walls.

DAY 4:

From Zofar to Paran

This day's ride goes through varied topography and wide-open landscapes including the desert’s largest wadis – Ashosh and Paran.

DAY 5:

From Paran to Yahel

Riding through the heart of the Syrian-African Rift. Relatively long riding day, mostly flat, via the "savanna" scenery of the Arava Valley. We will be accompanied by the Edom Mountains on the other side of the Rift (and the boarder)

DAY 6:

From Yahel To Shaharut

On this day we are combining 2 sections of the trail in one day.

First we will ride from Yahel to Neut Semadar, climbing from the Arava to  the Escarpment Cliff, and then via Wadi Ketora to Neut Semadar.  After a break we will continue to the second segment of the day, quite unique segment, combining typical desert wadis, sand dunes and a ride along the edge of the cliff that reveals a bird’s-eye view of the Arava and the Mountains of Edom

DAY 7:

Shaharut to Timna - the old copper mine.

This day is a challenging riding  day that clearly defines the concept of desert cycling. We will ride through some of the most unusual desert scenery of the country.

Day 8:

From Timna to Eilat

Last riding segment, not too long, relatively flat but not the easiest one to ride...

A swim in the crystal clear water of the red sea is a nice finale of this amazing tour. The red sea is swim-able all year long as water temperature doesn't go below 22 Celsius
